Professional Disclosure Statement
Students face obstacles and challenges throughout their lives. As a school counselor, I will act as an advocate for students to equip them with the tools they need in order to excel and to deal with life’s obstacles. I offer a comprehensive counseling program, which includes the domains of personal/social, academic and career development, as outlined by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA). The delivery of my counseling services is carried out in the form of individual sessions, group counseling, classroom guidance and individual planning. If a student is in need of extensive counseling, I will refer them to other reputable agencies. I will collaborate with stakeholders to help students reach their potential.
As a school counselor, I am bound by the Ethical Standards of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA). Everything said will be kept confidential except in the following situations: 1.) The student directs the counselor to tell someone else, 2) The counselor believes the student is a danger to themselves or others, 3.) The counselor becomes aware of or suspects child abuse or neglect, 4.) The counselor is ordered by a judge to disclose information.
My Masters Degree in School Counseling was earned at Grand Valley State University. To remain current in the field, I attend workshops and professional development, and am a member of the American School Counselor Association.
There are no fees associated with counseling services provided at school.
