School Counseling Website
Hello Black River Community!
Welcome back to another exciting school year. My name is Mrs. Tricia Schrotenboer and I am the school counselor. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, to inform you of a few of my roles as a school counselor, and to let you know how I am able to help teachers, parents and students. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in education from Western Michigan University and taught at Black River in the Upper Elementary for nine years. My Master’s Degree in School Counseling was earned at Grand Valley State University and I am excited to continue developing the counseling program at Black River.
As a school counselor, I will act as an advocate for students; to equip them with the tools they need to excel and to deal with life’s obstacles. I offer a comprehensive counseling program, which includes the domains of personal/social, academic and career development. The delivery of my counseling services is carried out in the form of individual sessions, group counseling, and classroom guidance, but I am also available for staff members and parents. I look forward to collaborating with staff members to identify and address the needs of individual students in the classroom and to aid students to achieve their highest potential.
I am excited for another year as Black River’s School Counselor, and am looking forward to building a partnership with you, so together we can help your child be as successful as possible. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
